Presenting Your Wedding Cake With Wedding Cake Stands

When planning your wedding, there are lots of things to think about.  One of the last wedding supplies many brides to be consider is wedding cake stands.  If you are getting married, now is a great time to start thinking about a stand for your cake.

With planning, the cake stand can add a new dimension to your cake. Your cake designer can help you pick out the perfect stand or you can pick one out on your own. If you plan on picking out our own stand it is best to know what your cake will look like before you start searching for a stand.

Size and Style

When picking out a cake stand you will need to consider the size and style of the cake you plan to serve.  A larger cake will need a stand that is sturdy enough to support it.  If a cake has multiple tiers and needs more support each layer of the cake may need to sit on a stand.  When picking a stand you’ll want to know the rough measurements of your cake so you can pick a stand that is about an inch larger. Wedding cake stands are available with plenty of decorations, or in plain designs.  Traditional cakes will probably look better on decorated stands and a more contemporary cake will look better on a plainer less decorated stand – talk to your baker to see what he or she suggests.

Color

When deciding on the color of your cake stand keep in mind most stands are white.  Some are made of clear glass or shiny metal.  You can also find different colored plastic stands that can be added to bring out the accent color of the wedding.  The stands are not a huge part of the wedding but they are a part that would be noticed if they were not there!

Purchasing a Wedding Cake Stand

Your baker may have a selection of stands to choose from, or you might want to buy a special stand that evokes more of a personalized touch.  There are plenty of great ideas on line, so start shopping, and you’ll be prepared when it is time to cut the cake.

Using Palm Trees As Tropical Wedding Centerpieces

Are you tired of using flowers as tropical wedding centerpieces? Well, it is time for you to make a change for your own wedding reception. You can use miniature palm trees on the tables to create a perfect tropical ambiance. After all, palm trees are known to convey romance through the years, not to mention yet that they are images of the summer, the beach, and the sun.

If you decide to take this extraordinary wedding decoration, you must learn certain things about using palm trees for the tables. For one, choose between real bonsai palm trees and fake miniature palm trees. You can find the latter in stores today since a lot of manufacturers are already producing miniature representations of these trees for decoration purposes. On the other hand, you can check your local nursery or you can grow your own dwarf palm trees for the wedding centerpieces. Growing your own bonsai palm trees, however, is only ideal if you have a lot of time left before the actual date of the wedding.

To use palm trees for this purpose, get a mirror appropriate for the size of the table. Then, lay it down the table face up and decorate its edges with shells and other beach objects. Position a pot of dwarf palm tree over the mirror.  Make sure that the palm tree is not too tall so as to encourage good conversation still between the people sitting on the table.

Sprinkle some sand on the mirror but not to the point of covering the mirror completely. Your goal here is to create a beach ambiance in the centerpiece. Cover the pot with ribbons or other accessories if you want to hide ugly spots. At this point, you already have a great wedding centerpiece that is unique and refreshing.

So who says that you always need flowers to create very interesting wedding centerpieces? With the exotic feel of palm trees, you can have the most unique yet most stunning tropical centerpieces for your wedding reception.

Wedding Flower Choices – White And Purple Wedding Flowers

Weddings, being mostly ceremonial in their nature are full of objects of symbolism in order to demonstrate what is in essence not only the coming together of two people, but two souls. No matter what context, religion or belief system a wedding is being played out in the idea that this is a spiritual event is always the dominant theme. This is why one of the dominant symbolic objects that can be found at a wedding are flowers. What could be a more appropriate symbol of life, joy and love and what are more appropriate than white and purple wedding flowers?

The color white, often worn by the bride is a symbol of purity, the assumption being that she is a virgin but what is often not known is that white is the symbol of new beginnings. This seems to be more appropriate in today’s society; we should all have an attitude that no matter what went before the slate can be wiped clean and we can begin anew, symbolized by the white wedding flowers. Purple is a very spiritual color and symbolizes magic and mystery and what greater mystery is there than the mystery of love, appropriately manifested in purple wedding flowers.

Incidentally, purple is also the symbol of royalty and we all deserve to be a king or queen, even if only for a day; perhaps even more than some of the characters from history who have held those titles. What is a more appropriate occasion to be a king or queen than on one’s wedding day? Thus in conclusion the combination of white and purple wedding flowers, make a perfect ritualistic symbol in a rare and wonderful ritualistic event. They blend the chief theme of said event in proper harmony, i.e. the coming together of two people or souls to begin anew in the purity of love and this love will hopefully be expressed in the creation of new life.  Silk wedding flower arrangements are another option to consider where you can employ your white and purple flowers.

Dresses for a Plus-Size Groom’s Mother for Any Wedding

Shopping for a dress for the larger-sized mother of the groom depends on the kind of wedding that both the bride and groom have agreed for their special day. So the mother of groom dress needs to match with the wedding style.

Dresses for a larger-sized mother of the groom on an outdoor or beach theme wedding

You need to avoid formal gowns which will be very uncomfortable if your son is getting married on the beach or the ocean. For this kind of wedding, dresses that are below or just above the knee are the most appropriate. However, if the day turns out to be very windy you might be showing more skin than you mean to. You can also go for dresses that are long and are made of gauzy fabric. Also, you need to avoid dresses which are in light colors as they tend to emphasize the problem areas of your body instead of minimizing them. These colors do not go very well with most plus-size women. If your daughter-in-law will be wearing a gold dress, then this will also be a great color for a plus-size dress. You can wear a pair of sandals and a light shawl to protect your shoulders from the scorching heat of the sun.

Dresses for a larger-sized mother of the groom on a casual or daytime wedding

A dressy outfit is a lovely choice if you are mother of the groom who will be attending her son’s casual or daytime wedding. You need to stay away from attires that are worn by most people behind the desk, instead look for a silk shantung fabric or brocade that has a solid color with some pattern in the fabric. Search for hues that are rich in color and complement well with the dresses of the bridesmaids but aren’t exactly in the same color as theirs. Also, you can choose a suit that has a dress underneath so that you can remove it when the day gets warm and you will still feel comfortable with the dress as you hit the dance floor.

Dresses for a larger-sized mother of the groom on a semi-formal evening wedding

If you will be attending your son’s semi-formal evening wedding, then you have two options to choose from. First, you can wear a comfortable and flirty short dress that is of knee-length if you are confident in it. Make sure that your dress captures the attention to your best features instead of the problem areas. Second, if you are more comfortable in a long dress, you can go for a two-piece style that has an A-line skirt and a silky top or jacket. For this style, a heavier fabric works best.

Dresses for a larger-sized mother of the groom on a black-tie wedding

The mother of the groom will look stunning in a black gown if the wedding is going to be a black-tie wedding. But if you are afraid to upset your daughter-in-law by wearing a black dress, then choose a different dark color that has a rich hue. It is important to wear a formal evening gown on a black-tie wedding. Silk and velvet are some heavier fabrics which will cover your curves well but not make you look heavier than you are. Beading or rhinestones for embellishments on the dress are perfect too. And to help cover your upper arms, you can have a matching silk or velvet shawl.

Easy Wedding Favors To Make Yourself

Preparing for your wedding day is a frantic time in your life. Filled with high expectations and high budgets, you’ll be searching for ways to limit the amount of money you have to spend while creating the day of your dreams.

Unless you’ve participated in planning a wedding before, you will be shocked at the budget necessary to simply set up the tables with place settings, stemware and decorations. Although there are many items you can eliminate when it comes to the table settings, there are a few basics that you can’t get away with eliminating. You’ll need stemware for your guests to partake in beverages. You’ll need something that acts as the centerpiece to embellish the setting and add to the ambiance of the theme for your wedding. These are two expenses you can’t avoid.

Many brides will choose to go with acrylic stemware to keep costs down, or the stemware may be provided by the banquet facility or the caterer. Hopefully, you’re stemware will be included with one of these two expenses. Adding a few touches to the table settings is how many brides tie in the colors and/or theme of their wedding. This is where you’re going to need to closely manage your budget.

Since you’ll certainly have stemware of some sort, a nice little touch to dress up your guest tables is to attach personalized wine glass charms to the stem of each glass. These unique charms will help each guest identify which glass is theirs and eliminate confusion amongst the identical glasses at the table and they will also add a classic touch of whimsy to the table setting.

Wedding wine charms can be easily made yourself. You’ll need jewelry-making wire, beads or charms that you select to go with your wedding theme and the helpful hands of some of your family members or friends. There are many jewelry making books online that will lay out the details of making wine charms but the basic idea is to create a wire hoop, similar to a hoop earring, that you can slide the bead onto and then connect the hoop to the stem of your wine glasses. Making the wine charms yourself will save you on your decorationing budget and will also leave you with a party favor for each or your guests to take home with them at the end of the event.

Custom Wedding Theme’s for the Big Day

Creating a theme for your wedding can be one of the most difficult things about having a wedding. There are so many different things out there to pick from, it can be overwhelming! You could have a giant fountain that lights up, or an ice sculpture. I personally don’t think that these big things are all of that impressive. It is all of the details and keeping a consistent theme that means something to you and your fiance that is the most important thing to think about. When your design is consistent throughout you invitations to place cards and even tags for the straws in your drinks this is what is impressive.

The great thing about going this direction is that it really is not that difficult to achieve. Paper is not that incredibly expensive and and printing is not either. You get more bang for your buck in that these options can make the wedding feel more personal and though out. People will always appreciate these things over stock plastic structure that you can rent from wedding catalog, although, chocolate fountains do have a wow factor!

So where do you start when you are trying to go this route? First you should have some idea of what type of them you want. This can come from you and your to be’s past or your combined likes. This helps, but you also want to be able to pull this off so that the wedding has a since of elegance. If you have a Japanese background you may want cherry blossom wedding invites or maybe you are more interested in a more contemporary wedding invitation. The additional touches that can turn your theme into something more three dimensional will go a long way. Turning a design into the decor on your wedding cake can help achieve this. Thinking through your decor is worth the time investment and will make your wedding fabulous.

Selecting Your Flower Girls’ Dresses

Most brides consider having a flower girl at the wedding ceremony an absolute necessity. The flower girl will be there preparing the way for the bride by casting flowers down the aisle. Flower girls are usually as cute as can be and you want her dress to be as cute as she is. Let’s first see how we’re going to pick out the flower girl dresses.

1.      Decide on the number of flower girls that you will have. Some brides prefer only one while some have little girls piling before them. If you’re having more than one, take down their ages to find out the different styles for their sizes.

2.      Select the dress based on the style of your event. If you are a formal bride having a thoroughly formal wedding, then plan for dresses that fit the same theme. Also, bear in mind the season. You don’t want your flower girls to be sweating on long velvety dresses on a summer day or shivering on lacy sundresses on winter’s eve. This will not do well for your ceremony or for the child. The last thing you want during your wedding is an unhappy flower girl throwing throw tantrum.

3.      Look through bridesmaid magazines or catalogs, and specifically look for photographs of flower girl dresses to see the style that you might like.

4.      Dress your flower girls in harmony with the bridesmaids’ dresses, but it does not mean that they all have to match.

5.      Look for comfort. Kids appreciate this most since they tend to move and play around often. Find something that could tolerate movements and crunches well and also consider buying dresses that the kids could wear again for practicality and convenience.

6.      Know your top choices, and then invite the girls and their mothers to try them on to see their look. Bring with you the accessories so you can see the full look of the dress to the children. Ask if they feel comfortable in it and try to see whether they would hold through even if they moved around.

Do know that when it comes to children, comfort is truly a big matter so always put it in mind first before the style.
