When I first suggested to my girlfriend that we go away for February holidays this year she nearly cracked up. She really likes to get away for sunshine holidays during the summer months. She’s a real beach bum who likes to spend her days sunbathing on the beach, reading a book, and spend her evenings relaxing with me in a beautiful restaurant eating great food and slurping down some beautiful Spanish red wine. So, I didn’t want to spend all that money this year, which I wanted to put aside for the deposit on a new house you see. So, I said that we were going away in February so that we could celebrate Valentine’s Day together.

That, my friend did the trick! Look, I know you might think that this is a bit underhanded of me but I’m sick of spending all that money in fancy restaurants in my own local town. I live in the center of London and all the restaurants around here there are always going to always double their prices on this one day of the year. Now, I’m not saying that the food is not great and spending time with my girl is not great also, but please don’t try to rip me off. So, away we go.

The idea struck me before Christmas. I was just browsing on the Internet, bored and looking for different holiday breaks away, how much it would cost, etc. just to while away a few hours. I came across a few holiday hotels that were offering Valentine’s Day deals. You go away for the entire week and the deals were fantastic. When I worked it all out, I took the flights from Gatwick airport into account, and transportation to and from the airport, it all seemed to be fairly easy, it was going to be a lot cheaper than normal and I was going to book it. So, I managed to kill three birds with one stone. I took my girl away for holidays, I took her away for a romantic Valentine’s Day holiday, and I presented the tickets to her at Christmas for an extra Christmas present … makes great sense to me!
